SVR’s Annual Three-Page Read
Saturday, May 19, 2007

Many authors, editors and agents will say you have to hook a reader in the first three pages. This is your chance to see if you’ve written a great hook! This event is held on the 3rd Saturday of every May and submissions are open to ALL SVR Members (guests are welcome to attend). Held at the University Park Clubhouse, this is a potluck lunch and cost of attendance is $5 for SVR members, $10 for guests.

Submissions are read by orator extraordinaire Judy Myers who will then offer comments and critiques on the entries. This interactive meeting is designed to help writers tweak those “grabber” pages and tighten up that all-important first impression. Previous 3-page read entries have gone on to sell…maybe yours is next!

Guidelines for entries:

  • All entries are anonymous; please do not put your name anywhere on the printed page.
  • Double spaced, TNR or New Courier, whichever you prefer, 1” margins all around.
  • Header should contain genre, title (if you have one), and page number.
  • Please include a post-it or paperclipped notecard with your name and contact information in case our orator has questions regarding pronunciation.
  • This is the 3-page read. Entries longer than four lines onto page four will be disqualified.
